Answer this detective question.... anyone?
Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?
Monday, November 24, 2008
Solution to Bjorn's question.
Since no one is willing to post their solutions, I will reveal the answers.
Read carefully, your Guru speaks!
Firstly, the calculation is erroneous. I am using a counter-example,
You should not do 3 x $9 + $2 = $29.
What if the owner gave back $10 and the bellboy pocketed $1, leaving $9 to be shared among the three? Each will get $3 back, hence each paid only $7.
3 x $7 + $1 = $22. What happened to the $8?
In fact, we should look at only the cost of the room.
In the original question, the room cost $25. $25 = 3 x $9 - $2 (each paid $9 and $25 goes to the room, $2 to the bellboy)
In my counter example, the room cost $20. $20 = 3 x $7 - $1
See?

try this question i found^^
* Which means, each of them coughed up RM10 to pay for it.
* However, the hotel was having some sort of promotion that night, and the room only cost RM25 per night.
* So the cashier handed over RM5 to a bellboy asking him to refund the 3 guys.
* Out of greed, the bellboy secretly pocket RM2 out of the RM5, and then returned RM3 to the 3 guys.
* Having returned RM3, each guy then took back RM1.
* So, in total, each guy paid RM9.
Here's the equation:
Each guy paid RM9.
RM9 x 3 = RM27
The bellboy pocket RM2.
RM27 + RM2 = RM29
So where did the remaining RM1 go?
As Requested by Arif
anyway, here are the clues to Set A Q4-5
Can you see the patterns? For more info., refer to ch. 6 of your textbook.

Results of Math Premier League 2008
The overall winner is Val (3E3). Although I was only the coach for the second half of the season, I am still very proud of him.
Nonetheless, other players who joined this league did well too.
A few names I would like to mention is jorn (3N1). He has innate strengths whch could be tapped. I believe he should be a threat to others in future.
Chek..My pentium-4-with-a-faulty-dot-matrix-output. I would like to work more with him. Working with him is like buidling a sandcastle. Sometimes the sand will crumble. Sometimes insects will crawl out of the sand and bite you. But, with care and patience, the results will be magnificent castle.
My personal achievement as a coach:
3NA Additional Mathematics-- MSG 4.32 67.6% passes
3NA O level Mathematics----- MSG 4.49 75.7% passes
3E O level Mathematics----- MSG 5.75 55.0% passes
